The dipstick has a measuring rod (10) immersed in a resource sump for measurement of a level of a resource in a resource sump. The rod comprises constricting parts (11-16) whose material thicknesses reduce with respect to reduction in bending stiffness of the constriction parts. An encapsulation material (20) i.e. plastic sheathing, partially forms the rod. The encapsulation material is partially consists of plastic. The encapsulation material comprises identification elements (21, 22) for identifying maximum resource conditions and minimum resource conditions, respectively.
