The battery system (20) has a battery line (18) in which series-connected battery modules (16) are provided. Several battery cells (14) are provided in each battery module. Two connectors (12,13) are connected at both ends of battery line. A switch (6) is arranged in series with respect to battery line and is arranged between two battery modules. A fuse (4) is provided in switch. A single or a double contact (2) is arranged before the fuse. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) battery; and (2) motor vehicle.
