A facial expression data recovery apparatus and a method for the same are disclosed in the present invention. The recovery apparatus according to the present invention comprises: an expression database for storing first facial expression data obtained using k markers for preset expression; an expression analysis unit for determining M basic expressions by analyzing the association between the k markers; and an expression recovery unit for recovering facial expression data, corresponding to the k markers, through the combination of the M basic expressions from second facial expression data obtained using n(n is a natural number satisfying M/3Dn<k) markers. According to the present invention, facial expression data may be recovered through the combination of a small number of basic expressions determined through principle component analysis.
