PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a carbon fiber, which can uniformly heat-treat a precursor of the carbon fiber with high energy efficiency by using a microwave, and also can prevent the precursor from being cut due to arc discharge.SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing the carbon fiber heat-treats the precursor of the carbon fiber, and comprises: a cylindrical outer wall part; a microwave source that is provided at the outer wall part and irradiates an inner part of the outer wall part with a microwave; a cylindrical absorption/transmission member that is provided at the inner part of the outer wall part, absorbs at least one part of the microwave irradiated from the microwave source to generate heat, and also transmits at least one part of a microwave irradiated from a magnetron to an inner part thereof; and a travel mechanism that makes the precursor of the carbon fiber travel in the inner part of the absorption/transmission member from one end part to another end part of the absorption/transmission member. |
