摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a UV-emitting phosphor composed of a matrix comprising YAl(BO)in which a part of Y is substituted by Gd, so that the phosphor can efficiently emit light in either case with exciting wavelengths of 147 nm and 172 nm generated by Xe discharge.SOLUTION: There are disclosed a UV-emitting phosphor having a composition expressed by general formula YGdBiAl(BO)(0<x<0.6; 0<y<0.03) and a light-emitting element using the same. The phosphor emits UV by being efficiently excited by an excitation light source with wide wavelengths including 147 nm and 172 nm.
