PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high tensile strength metal wire that can improve ductile of a metal wire than a conventional method by a simple technique, and a metal wire obtained by the method.SOLUTION: The method for producing a metal wire includes twisting a metal wire having a strength of 2500 MPa or more. When defining a wire diameter of the metal wire as D(mm), a twisting value added per unit length (100D mm) of the metal wire in twisting as T (times/100D mm), a twisting value per unit length (100D mm) of the metal wire by which the metal wire breaks as Tmax(times/100D mm), twisting is added so that a relationship represented by the following formula (1) is satisfied, 3≤T≤0.7×Tmax (1). |
