Disclosed herein are nucleic acid probes comprising a plurality of segments of uniquely specific nucleic acid sequences. In some examples, the nucleic acid probes include or consist of a nucleic acid sequence set forth as any one of SEQ ID NOs: 1-50. The disclosed probes are useful for detecting presence of a target nucleic acid in a sample. In some embodiments, the probes are useful for detecting presence of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase p110 (PIK3CA), mouse double minute 2 (MDM2), Met proto-oncogene (MET), or topoisomerase II alpha (TOP2A) in a sample.
