[Problem] To satisfactorily calibrate, in a multilayer disk, the intensity of laser light for recording during additional recording, while taking into consideration the effect of inter-layer crosstalk due to the inclusion of stray light from adjacent recording layers in a light detection element. [Solution] In each of a plurality of recording layers (L0, L1, L2, ...), a data area in which user data is recorded, and a calibration area including a main calibration area and at least one sub-calibration area which are used to calibrate the intensity of laser light for recording, are set having the same layout among the plurality of recording layers. For each recording layer, and in sequence from a recording layer among the plurality of recording layers which is the furthest from an optical-pickup object lens (60), first calibration for performing initial recording in the data area is performed using the main calibration area, dummy data is recorded in the remainder of the main calibration area, and second calibration for performing additional recording in the data area is performed using the sub calibration area.
|
