PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source lighting device which can respond to the need with the same board as long as the rated power, the rated voltage, and the rated current of the light source are within a designated range.SOLUTION: A platform board 110 has a control device 20 including nonvolatile memory 21 and a plurality of electronic components mounted thereon, thus functioning as a light source lighting device. The platform board 110 supports a plural kinds of LED modules differing in rated characteristics as usable candidates, whose rated characteristics determined based on a rated voltage and a rated current differ from each other and whose rated characteristics fall within a designated range. The platform board 110 is a general-purpose unit for these usable candidates. When a corresponding value corresponding to the rated characteristic of any one of the plural kinds of LED modules which are the usable candidates is written into the nonvolatile memory 21, this LED module is fixed as being usable for the platform board 110. In other words, when a corresponding value of any LED module is written into, the platform board 110 becomes an exclusive unit for the LED module.
