PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer capable of giving a rubber composition and a pneumatic tire comprising the same each improved in low fuel economy and wet grip performance in good balance.SOLUTION: A copolymer with a weight-average molecular weight Mw of 1.0×10to 2.5×10is provided, which is obtained by reacting a specific compound with the active terminal end of a copolymer obtained by copolymerization between a conjugated diene compound and a compound of formula (II) using a polymerization initiator comprising an nitrogen atom-containing organometallic compound wherein the metal atom is an alkali metal one.
