Abstract METHOD, SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR RENDERING AN IMAGE ON A A method of rendering an object on a page defined by a personalised print markup language (PPML), using a pixel-sequential renderer (300), is disclosed. The object to be rendered is received, the object indicating if the object is to be rendered using a PPML 2.2 standard "Paint-As-Opaque" rendering operation or a PPML 3.0 standard "Strict-Paint-As [0 Opaque" rendering operation. An opacity value of a pixel of the object on the page is determined. The object is rendered using the rendering operation indicated by the object. For the PPML 2.2 standard "Paint-As-Opaque" rendering operation, the pixel-sequential renderer (300) renders the pixel with an opaque white background in an event that the determined opacity is greater than zero.
