PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument which can be inexpensively manufactured and which enables to seal and cut a relatively large tissue structure.SOLUTION: A surgical instrument is a long slender shaft which includes a housing, a proximal part connected to the housing, and a distal part on the other side of the proximal part. The long slender shaft defines a longitudinal axis, and a driving rod which is elongated at least partially through the long slender shaft. The driving rod is selectively movable in a longitudinal direction with respect to the long slender shaft, and a cam pin. The cam pin is supported by the driving rod so that the longitudinal movement of the driving rod can be imparted to the cam pin, and an end effector supported by the distal part of the long slender shaft. The end effector is adapted to treatment of tissue. |
