PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamp assembly which can clamp and fasten different regions of a stack of parts.SOLUTION: A clamp assembly 110 comprises a clamp 120 including a plurality of magnet devices 130. Each magnet device includes a permanent magnet 132 and a coil 134 surrounding the permanent magnet. The clamp assembly further comprises a controller 150 for pulsing the coils in order to selectively magnetize and demagnetize the permanent magnets.
