A method and an apparatus for controlling shake correction are provided to adjust a driving current of a shake correction actuator correspondingly to the degree to which the center of an image pickup device is deviated from an optical axis, thereby reducing power consumption by the shake correction actuator. If a shake correction mode is selected, it is checked whether or not the center of an image pickup device is matched to an optical axis(S40). A shake correction actuator is driven by a distance, which corresponds to the degree to which the center of the image pickup device is deviated from the optical axis(S50). If a first shutter signal is inputted, it is checked whether an output signal of a shake detection unit is inputted(S70). A first correction quantity, by which the image pickup device is to be moved, is calculated by using the output signal of the shake correction unit(S80). The actuator is driven by a distance corresponding to the first correction quantity(S90). If a second shutter signal is inputted, it is checked whether an output signal of the shake detection unit is inputted. A second correction quantity, by which the image pickup device is to be moved, is calculated by using the output signal of the shake detection unit. The actuator is driven by a distance corresponding to the second correction quantity. |
