PURPOSE: An insert drill is provided to reduce the whole volume of cutting chips by reducing diameters of the cutting chips while the cutting chips are cut into proper sizes. CONSTITUTION: An insert drill comprises a holder(100) and a cutting insert(200). The holder comprises a pocket(110) and a holder flute formed into the spiral shape. The pocket is formed on the front end portion of the holder. The holder flute guides the discharge of cutting chips. The cutting insert is mounted to the pocket, and comprises an insert flute. The insert flute integrally formed with the holder flute guides the discharge of the cutting chips. As to the holder flute, a web is gradually thin from the end portion where the cutting insert is installed to the rear end portion where the cutting chips are discharged. |
