An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a driving method thereof are provided to apply the same data driving unit as a normal color LCD device to display black and white colors and increase an aperture ratio of a pixel capable of displaying a black and white image, thereby improving image quality. An LCD device includes an LCD panel(110), plural gate lines(GL1,GL2), plural data lines(DL1~DL4), a gate driving unit, a data driving unit, and a signal connecting unit. The plural gate lines are formed in a direction of the LCD panel. The plural data lines are formed in a direction perpendicular to the plural gate lines. The gate driving unit applies a scan signal to the plural gate lines. The data driving unit is synchronized with the scan signal to apply a data signal to the plural data lines. The signal connecting unit includes plural signal applying line groups(115-G1,115-G2) connected to the data driving unit. Each of the plural signal applying line groups is composed of three signal applying line(115-1~115-3,115-4,115-6) for applying the data signal. |
