PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit capable of lessening color change of an LED light source and having high luminance, in a backlight device having the LED light source arranged on its side face.SOLUTION: A lamp unit uses a white film in which a discharged amount of hydrogen sulfide is 20×10mol/g or less when the white film is processed for four hours under a condition of temperature of 80°C and relative humidity of 95% or less, and/or a white film in which a discharged amount of sulfur oxides is 1.0×10mol/g or below when the white film is processed for four hours under a condition of temperature of 80°C and relative humidity of 95% or less.
