[Class 60] [See also Group XXII] A grinding wheel, for operating on the ends of piston rings, is mounted for angular adjustment on a body part adapted to be fixed to a support and having a flat upper face whereon the ring is placed flat against a gauging abutment which is adjusted by means of graduations on the said upper face. The body portion 1 has a clamp 20 at one end for fastening it to a support, and at its other end an angularly adjustable tool holder is arranged, adapted to be clamped in set position by the handle 11. A grinding-wheel 8 is carried at the end of a hand or motor-driven spindle the axis of which intersects the centre-line of the ring-supporting plate 2 in all positions of adjustment. A stop 16 for the ring 3 is adapted to be moved in a slot across the supporting plate, the latter having graduations which indicate the cylinder bore for which the ring to be cut is suitable.
