PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone for displaying video and other information so that a user can easily view them without interrupting display of the received video when other information is displayed while the received video is displayed. SOLUTION: When an operation detection portion 109 detects a change of a state from a closed state to an open state while a display portion 110 displays the video of a television program received from a tuner 108 in the case of the closed state in a portable telephone 1, a picture is divided into upper and lower parts based on a division ratio stored in a divided information storage portion 101, the video of the television program is reduced and it is displayed on the picture positioned on an upper part by rotating it by 90 degrees.
