This is a method and a device for scheduling channel access in a switching unit with asynchronous ports. It is particularly useful in a multi projection system for the distribution of video while being applicable in other kind of application. It concerns a method of controlling access of a plurality of devices to one or more physical layer (PHY) channels comprising obtaining access requests from devices that have data to transmit, determining the processing and transmission load of a device among the devices that have data to transmit and scheduling access to the one or more physical layer channels based on the obtained access request and the determined processing and transmission load so as to distribute load of the processor over time when processing data for transmission or reception. Accordingly, communication performance is improved by optimizing the time allocations of all the network devices. |
