The present invention provides a ball screw for a machine tool comprising: a cylindrical main body in which a shaft is inserted; a cover member which is coupled to the main body to cover the outer surface of the main body and has a supply hole and a discharge hole for supplying and discharging cooling air supplied from the outside; and a cooling groove which is formed on the outer surface of the main body in a circumference direction and increases the touching area between the cooling air supplied through the supply hole of the cover member and the main body. The ball screw prevents thermal deformation by allowing the cooling air moving in the cooling groove to rapidly cool the outer surface of the main body and transfers heat to the outside when the cooling air supplied through the supply hole is transferred between the outer surface of the main body and the inner surface of the cover member in the circumference direction of the main body.
