The appliance 200 includes a noise reduction device 500 to reduce noise generated within a main body of the appliance. The device includes a resonance member 530 with an opening portion (531, Figure 3) and a hollow portion 533. A sound absorbing plate 510 is coupled to the opening portion and has a plurality of sound absorbing holes (515, Figure 3). The appliance also includes a cabinet 201 and a drive unit 250 within the cabinet to drive the appliance. The appliance may be a washing machine, a dishwasher, a refrigerator or an air-conditioning apparatus. Noise generated by the drive unit of the appliance passes through the noise reduction device in order to efficiently reduce noise (based on Helmholtz resonance theory) in the appliance and achieve an increase of internal capacity. |
