The device (10) has a housing (11) containing a tubular body (18) that comprises UV-permeable material. A medium i.e. water, flows through the body. A UV light source (28) is arranged parallel to the body at a distance from the body. A reflector (58) is assigned to the UV light source, and another reflector (48) is assigned to the body. The latter reflector is placed opposite to the former reflector and opened toward the former reflector. The reflectors are partially designed in semicircular shape as a reflective layer in an inner side of the housing.
