<p>A method of encoding uplink data stream control information in a wireless telecommunication network operable to support a plurality of uplink MIMO data streams from user equipment, each data stream being associated with a control channel message having a fixed size. User equipment and a computer program product operable to perform that method. The method comprises: selecting an uplink MIMO transmission regime; obtaining first stream control channel information to allow decoding of data traffic carried on a first data stream; obtaining second stream control channel information to allow decoding of data traffic carried on a second data stream; and encoding the first stream control channel information within a first control channel message to allow independent decoding of the first stream control channel information, and encoding the second stream control channel information within a second control channel message, the second stream control channel information being decodable from the second control channel message in combination with at least one of: selection of the uplink transmission regime and the first control channel message. Aspects and embodiments described allow second stream control channel information to be efficiently encoded within a fixed size message, thus saving bits without losing information, and thus also allows re-use of saved bits within the fixed size message to be used to increase reliability or robustness of information encoded within the second stream control channel.</p> |
