The present invention provides a transition metal precursor, which is used in manufacturing lithium composite transition metal oxides and characterized in comprising a composite transition metal compound represented by Chemical formula 1 and a hydrocarbon compound, and a manufacturing method thereof. The transition metal precursor according to the present invention includes a specific composite transition metal compound and hydrocarbon compound. As such, when lithium composite transition metal oxides are manufactured by using the transition metal precursor, carbons are able to be positioned inside and/or on the surface of the lithium transition metal oxide particles, which enables a secondary battery based on the transition metal precursor to exhibit an excellent rate characteristic and lifetime property. |
