<p>Catalytic preparation of aliphatic straight chain and 5-13C beta -alkyl branched carbonic acid comprises oxidation of the corresponding aldehyde with oxygen or oxygen containing gas mixture at 20-100[deg]C in the liquid phase and in the presence of a catalyst system; where the conversion product in the presence of alkali- and/or alkaline earth metal carboxylate contains 0.5-5 mmol of alkali- or alkaline earth metal per mol of aldehyde and 0.05-5 ppm of metal of the group 4-12 such as cerium or lanthanum, compound of such metals and/or metallic components, based on the aldehyde.</p> |
