A suture assembly (502) including a tubular leader (504), a clasp (512) and a length of suture (506) connected to the tubular leader (504) by the clasp (512) which presses the suture against an annular wall (520) of the tubular leader. The tubular leader (504) defines a bore that is sized to be frictionally engaged by a needle that pulls the tubular leader (504) and a portion of the length of suture (506) through tissue for use in an intracorporeal suturing procedure.
