A rechargeable electric power tool (1) includes a battery pack (6) that is detachably provided on a housing (2) accommodating a motor (M) and that supplies electric power to the motor (M), and a tool (3) that is driven by the motor (M). A standby switch (15) and a lock-on switch (16) are arranged at the housing (2). The standby switch (15) is able to set the rechargeable electric power tool (1) to a standby state where the rechargeable electric power tool (1) waits for the motor (M) to be driven. The lock-on switch (16) is able to shift the rechargeable electric power tool (1) from the standby state to a state where the motor (M) is driven so as to keep the state where the motor (M) is driven.
