摘要 An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to discharge rapidly residual charges at liquid crystal cells through a discharge circuit for turning on thin film transistors by supplying a gate high voltage to gate lines. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes an LCD panel(55), a data drive IC(Integrated Circuit)(53), a gate drive IC(54), a discharge signal supplying unit(65), a discharge circuit(66), and a power supply unit(58). The LCD panel includes plural data and gate lines which cross each other and thin film transistors, which are connected to the data and gate lines, to drive liquid crystal cells. The data drive IC supplies data voltages to the data lines when a source voltage is supplied. The gate drive IC supplies sequentially scan pulses, which are swung between gate high and low voltages, to gate lines when the source voltage is supplied. The discharge signal supplying unit detects an interval when the source voltage is varied and outputs one of the gate high and low voltages. The discharge circuit, which is formed at an output stage of the gate drive IC, supplies the gate high voltage to the gate line by turning on through the gate high voltage. The power supply unit supplies the source voltage and the gate high and low voltages to the discharge signal supplying unit.
