A device for treating a hollow anatomical structure (HAS), the device comprising:
a catheter shaft (101);
a balloon (100) attached at one end of the catheter shaft (101); and
an expandable resistive element (98, 102) on the balloon (100), wherein the balloon (100) is expandable to place the resistive element in apposition with a wall of the HAS.
