<p>The present invention relates to an air conditioner and a control method thereof. The air conditioner including a compressor, a condenser, and an expansion unit according to the present embodiment includes: a receiver storing at least the part of refrigerant which has passed through the condenser; a first valve controlling the amount of the refrigerant fed to the receiver with being formed at the inlet of the receiver; a gas-liquid separator having a storage space partitioned from the storage space of the receiver with being integrated with the receiver, and separating liquid refrigerant and gaseous refrigerant from the refrigerant and running the separated gaseous refrigerant into the compressor; a bypass line being extended from the receiver to the gas-liquid separator and guiding the refrigerant in the receiver to the gas-liquid separator; and a second valve controlling the amount of the refrigerant, which is run from the receiver to the gas-liquid separator, with being formed at the bypass line, wherein the receiver and the gas-liquid separator are formed in the inner space of a case, and the bypass line includes: one end portion discharging the refrigerant from the receiver with being connected to one side portion of the case; and the other end portion running the refrigerant into the gas-liquid separator with being connected to the other side portion of the case.</p> |
