PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock which does not impose a heavy load on a power transmission means, which shortens a face-direction width dimension of a door of a lock box with respect to the amount of protrusion of a dead bolt, and which facilitates assembly. SOLUTION: This lock X is equipped with a drive link 5 which has one end journaled on a first pin 6 on the side of the dead bolt 4, which has the other end journaled on a second pin 7 on the side of a tumbler 3, and which converts the rotational force of the tumbler to the protrusion/receding motion of the dead bolt. In locking, a stopper 19A for the dead bolt makes an entry into a space between a back end surface of the dead bolt and an inner wall surface of a back wall 1b of the lock case 1 by the displacement of an operation arm 14A different from the drive link, and inhibits the receding of the dead bolt. In the lock X, one end of the operating arm is journaled on a third pin 8 on the side of the tumbler away at a predetermined interval from the second pin; the other end thereof is integrally provided with the stopper for the dead bolt; and the stopper for the dead bolt is a crossbar protrusion which is guided by a vertical guiding notch 20A directly or indirectly provided in the lock box and which inhibits the receding of the dead bolt in the locking.
