Provided is a low-cost structural steel exhibiting superior weather resistance. Specifically, a structural steel containing, in mass%: 0.1 - 1.00% inclusive of Cu; at least 0.10 - less than 0.6% of Ni; 0.05 - 1.00% inclusive of W; and further containing either or both of 0.005 - 0.200% inclusive of Nb and 0.005 - 0.200% inclusive of Sn. R value = 2.0 mass%. R value = (R1 value + R2 value) 0.5, R1 value = [Cu] × 0.2 + [Ni] × 3 + [W] × 4 + [Nb] × 20 + [Sn] × 8.5, R2 value = (Log 1.5([W]2 + 0.002) + 16) × ((Log2([Nb] × 0.1 + 0.001) + 10) + (Log2([Sn] × 0.1 + 0.001) + 10) × 0.75) × 0.5 (whereby [M] represents the content of the element M (mass%), and if none is present, [M] is 0). |
