A method of removing ammonia nitrogen using blast furnace slag is provided to stably remove ammonia nitrogen without a separate additive for increasing pH of wastewater by removing ammonia nitrogen using blast furnace slag. A method of removing ammonia nitrogen using blast furnace slag comprises the steps of: accumulating blast furnace slag to form a blast furnace slag layer; passing wastewater through a pH adjusting part in which the blast furnace slag layer is formed to increase pH of wastewater; heating the wastewater to increase temperature of the wastewater to 50 deg.C or higher; and supplying air into the wastewater to discharge ammonia together with air. The method further comprises the steps of increasing pH of the wastewater by passing wastewater through the blast furnace slag after accumulating the blast furnace slag in a packing tower if the blast furnace slag has a diameter of 2 mm to less than 20 mm, and increasing pH of the wastewater by passing wastewater through the blast furnace slag after accumulating the blast furnace slag in a trickling filter reactor if the blast furnace slag has a diameter of 2 mm to less than 100 mm. |
