The present invention relates to a system and a method for providing an image of an art work comprising: a user terminal for transmitting user terminal information comprising at least one among brightness, chroma, graphic performance, resolution, and network speed which display an image of an artwork through a network and displaying the image of the art work received through the network; and an art work image providing device for providing a list of previously stored art work image files to a user terminal as an art work image list, correcting at least one among the brightness, chroma, graphic performance, resolution, and network speed of the art work image files to display an art work image corresponding to an art work image request signal in a predetermined optimal display state in the user terminal. By doing this, when an art work image is provided to a user terminal through a network, the size and resolution of an image of a corresponding art work is corrected in the user terminal according to an image display condition of the user terminal and the image of the art work is provided to the user terminal, thereby providing an optimal image of the art work for each user terminal.
