FIELD: machine building.SUBSTANCE: flexible shaft consists of several concentric coil helical springs (1, 2, 3) closely adjoining to each other, the adjacent springs are of opposite hand of sprial and their ends are fixed to the caps (4, 4') connected to driving and driven shafts. The springs (1; 2; 3) are made as single-lead springs with clearance (t; t; t) between the spring coils the cross-cut profile of the latter is chosen so that to prevent their slipping in-between the adjacent spring coils and the width (b; b; b) of the said cross-section is greater than maximal clearance between the coils of the adjacent springs under the flexible shaft operation conditions. Application of torque results in closing of the adjacent springs at the flexible shaft thus providing for a pipe with rigidity in torsion and compliance for stress-strain.EFFECT: enhancing range of torques transferred by flexible spring shaft along with possibility of relative movement of ends of driving and driven shafts, decreasing frictional losses.8 cl, 3 dwg |
