The present invention relates to an intelligent vehicle system for evaluating the cognitive load during driving by using driving performance and biomedical signals, and for performing security and preventative measures according to the evaluation. To this end, the present invention provides an apparatus and method for evaluating the cognitive load including: a lane detecting unit for receiving a vehicle image and calculating a lane position; an SLDP calculating unit for calculating the accumulated SDLP value for a predetermined time for lane position data received from the lane detecting unit; an SCL calculating unit for obtaining the average value of skin conductance input from a skin conductance sensor of the vehicle from the driver of the vehicle for the predetermined time; and a cognitive load determining unit for estimating the cognitive load state of the driver from the SDLP value and the average value of the skin conductance. |
