METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING NANO-PARTICLE REINFORCED METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES AND THE METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing nano-particle reinforced metal matrix composites and the metal matrix composite are provided to control interface characteristic of different kinds of nano particles by interface processing of the nano particle and base metal. CONSTITUTION: Matal matrix powder and nano particle are mixed. The nano particle is uniformly dispersed into the metallic material powder through the mechanical milling process. The composite powder is formed by a heat pressing process. The processed bulk material is manufactured. The composite powder is put into in the melt of the base metal and is rapidly mixed. The casting material is manufactured through the casting process. The bulk material is heat-treated. The nano particle is expanded to the interface between the nano particle and the base metal. A new interfacial layer generates between the nano particle and the base metal.
