The present invention relates to a method for synthesizing an image of moving object using an optical flow, and more particularly to a method for synthesizing an image of moving object using an optical flow, comprising the steps of (1) inputting image data in which a moving object is photographed; (2) storing the image data inputted in the step (1) in a plurality of consecutive frames; (3) obtaining a series of optical flow vectors for pixels of frame stored in the step (2); (4) analyzing the optical flow vectors obtained in the step (3) to extract certain pairs of frames from the frames; (5) matching the pair of frames extracted in the step (4). According to the method for matching an image of moving object using an optical flow, an operation processing amount can be reduced, and a movement of large object can be traced by appointing a feature point in a pixel of moving object and by calculating an optical flow vector for the feature point. Furthermore, according to the present invention, an image of moving object can be outputted as a single planation image such as an image captured in a consecutive stop status, i.e., as one image by matching frames including feature points having optical flow vector values greater than a reference value and by extracting pixels of moving object from the frames to synthesize with a background.
