The method involves performing a step for purging (C) of a vapor tank, and performing a step for detection (D) of a bead that is contained inside the vapor tank. A proportion of fuel vapors is measured (E), where the fuel vapors are contained inside a mixture of air/fuel vapor that is allowed to circulate inside a circulation channel. A real effectiveness of purging is calculated (G), and the real effectiveness is compared to a minimal effectiveness. The circulation channel is arranged inside a sensor. An independent claim is also included for a device for application of a method for controlling a fuel supply of an internal combustion engine.
