PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an antiglare film, which is excellent in an antiglare property, has good denseness of black at black display in a bright room to exhibit a high contrast, does not have textured feeling on a surface, is prevented from occurrence of a curl even when a thickness of a transparent support is reduced, and is also excellent in productivity; a method for producing the same; and a polarizing plate or image display device using the antiglare film.SOLUTION: An antiglare film includes an antiglare layer having an average film thickness of 3 to 10 μm on one surface of a transparent support having an average film thickness of 20 to 70 μm. The antiglare layer is formed by applying a composition containing the following components (A) to (D) on the transparent support and drying and curing the applied composition: (A) resin particles having an average particle size of 1.0 to 3.0 μm, (B) a curable compound having two or more curable functional groups in a molecule, (C) a smectite clay organic complex in which a smectite clay is intercalated with a quaternary ammonium salt represented by the general formula (1), namely, [(R)(R)N].X, and (D) a volatile organic solvent. In the general formula (1): Rand Rare not identical; Rrepresents an alkyl group, alkenyl group or alkynyl group which has 4 to 24 carbon atoms; Rrepresents an alkyl group, alkenyl group or alkynyl group which has 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and Xrepresents an anion. |
