PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress unevenness due to boundaries between wire grid polarizers.SOLUTION: In a polarizer unit 10 in which a plurality of wire grid polarizers 16 for polarizing light are arrayed horizontally, light shielding areas 30 blocking transmission of light are provided along boundaries 28 between adjacent wire grid polarizers 16, and the light shielding areas 30 are provided so that a length ratio of the light shielding areas 30 and light non-shielded areas of the wire grid polarizers, which are not shielded from light by the light shielding areas, is uniform in a carrying direction C orthogonal to an array direction B of the wire grid polarizers 16 throughout in the array direction B of the wire grid polarizers 16. |
