PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for continuously straightening steel sheets that can reduce a time interval, i.e., straightening pitch, required for straightening one steel sheet out of a plurality of steel sheets in a set to improve productivity, i.e., throughput per unit time, by simultaneously starting the conveyance of the plurality of steel sheets as a set, and straightening the steel sheets at a plurality of paths while continuously feeding them into a roll straightener.SOLUTION: In straightening steel sheets S at a plurality of paths by a roll straightener 12, a plurality of steel sheets S, e.g., two steel sheets Sa, Sb, are set as a pair to simultaneously start conveyance, and are continuously straightened at the plurality of paths by the roll straightener 12 while being reciprocated and conveyed. Specifically, front and rear face stop position reference sensors 18, 20 are installed at front and rear face conveyance tables 14, 16 respectively, and a controller 24 controls the conveyance of the steel sheets Sa, Sb based on sheet thickness information and draft setting sameness/difference of the steel sheets Sa, Sb and the detected results of the sensors 18, 20. |
