PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data creation device capable of creating a portable storage medium such as a BD-ROM allowing retrieval of event information using a general-purpose reproduction device.SOLUTION: An authoring computer 12 comprises: a metadata analysis unit which analyzes metadata attached to image data and extracts event information; a play list creation unit which creates a play list of event scenes regulating the start and end of each event using the image data and the event information; a program creation unit which creates a control program which allows for retrieval using the event information of the image data by associating the event scenes in the play list and each event; and a writing unit which writes the data and program into the BD-ROM 14.
