摘要 <p>The present invention relates to a method of identifying a glycosyl hydrolase (GH) enzyme and a method for high throughput screening (HTS) of a GH activity. The methods comprise the steps of: - providing a plurality of samples each comprising an enzyme candidate; - providing a complex substrate of a plant material; - mixing the plurality of samples with the complex substrate to provide a plurality of mixtures; - incubating the plurality of mixtures to allow the enzyme candidates to interact with a carbohydrate in the complex substrate; - optionally inactivating the enzyme candidates; - comparing the carbohydrate compositions of the plurality of incubated mixtures with the carbohydrate composition of the complex substrate; - defining GH activities for the plurality of samples based on the comparisons of carbohydrate compositions. The invention may be used to identify GHs for use in the production of second generation biofuels.</p>
