PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an optical member from being thermally damaged at the time of bounce flash picture-taking.SOLUTION: The illumination device comprises: a light emission part that includes a light emission element 7 emitting illumination light illuminating a subject, an optical member 9 disposed in front of the light emission element and a zoom mechanism 12 moving the light emission element close to or pulling the light emission element away from the optical member; and a main body part that includes a bounce mechanism rotatably supporting the light emission part in a vertical direction and a communication part 25 obtaining picture-taking lens zoom position information from a camera. When the light emission part is rotated upward by the bounce mechanism, a movement control part 14 is provided that controls the zoom mechanism such that a position of the light emission element set on the basis of the picture-taking lens zoom position information obtained via the communication part is moved in a direction causing the light emission element to be pulled away from the optical member. |
