PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster which can be prevented from being kept in a pump-up state.SOLUTION: A lash adjuster 14 includes: a tubular adjuster body 21; a plunger 22 which can be slid in the adjuster body 21; a reservoir chamber 221 formed inside the plunger 22; an oil pressure chamber 23 formed between the adjuster body 21 and the plunger 22; a check ball 25 for opening/closing a communication port 226 connecting the reservoir chamber 221 and the oil pressure chamber 23; a plunger spring 24 for biasing the plunger 22; a sub-pressure chamber 215 disposed adjacent to the oil pressure chamber 23; and a relief valve 217 for opening/closing a communication port 216 connecting the oil pressure chamber 23 and the sub-pressure chamber 215. In the lash adjuster 14, the relief valve 217 opens the communication port 216 when pressure in the oil pressure chamber 23 is larger than a preset value. |
