PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load applied to a driving sheave and a hoisting machine.SOLUTION: An elevator includes a car 8 liftably arranged in a hoistway 1, a counterweight 9 liftably arranged in the hoistway 1 and connected to the car 8 via a first main rope 7, a driving sheave 5 for driving the main rope 7, a hoisting machine 3 connected to the driving sheave 5, and a deflector sheave 6 positioned under the driving sheave 5 and extending the first main rope 7 from the driving sheave 5. A pair of return sheaves 11 and 11 are arranged above the driving sheave 5. A second main rope 7A extends up to the pair of return sheaves 11 and 11 from the car 8, and this second main rope 7A reaches up to the counterweight 9 by being extended to the pair of return sheaves 11 and 11 again after being extended to the driving sheave 5 thereafter. |
