A SEPARATOR AND ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE CONTAINING THE SAME

A separator and an electrochemical device equipped with the same are disclosed. The separator according to the present invention includes: a non-woven fabric material with multiple pores, which is made of fibers among which the pores are formed; and a polymer coating layer formed on a part of or on the entire surface of the fibers. The polymer coating layer includes polymers having more than 80 MPa of tensile strength and more than 3,000 MPa of tensile modulus of elasticity and flexural modulus of elasticity. The separator according to the present invention can reduce manufacturing costs of the electrochemical device, and prevent the generation of a leakage current and improve mechanical strength by controlling the size of pores contained in the non-woven fabric material.
