The invention relates to a camera system (1), in particular for a motor vehicle, including at least one camera (3) for capturing an image sequence of an environment (7), an optical display device (4) for displaying the image sequence, a control device (5) controllable by a user, by means of which an image region (ROI 13) can be determined on the display device (4), in which a partial region (14) of the environment (7) is depicted, and an electronic image processing device (2), which is adapted to adjust at least one camera parameter depending on the selected image region (ROI 13). The image processing device (2) is adapted to track the partial region (14) upon a relative movement of the camera (3) with respect to the partial region (14) and/or upon zooming and to adapt the selected image region (ROI 13) on the display device (4) such that the selected image region (ROI 13) continuously presents the same partial region (14) of the environment (7).
